If you are like myself, you will almost consistently crave change in your space. Sometimes the most simple difference like a tchotchke will scratch the itch, other times its an hours long commitment to rearranging, or sometimes you're completely board and its time for an overhaul.
We as a design team hope we can help you create a space that you won't want to change, however we're all human and sometimes you just simply get board. If you're not ready to hire interior designers to do the job, here are five ideas for easy decorating for the restless.
1. Hit the thrift or vintage store
One of my most favorite things to do always, but especially when im feeling like I need to switch something up is checking out the thrift or a local vintage shop. Thrift and vintage stores are the place your most likely to find pieces that you're not expecting, and that can make the biggest statement no matter how big or small. Often friendly on your pocket, and they will foster creativity and exploration! Some of my favorite finds that help a space feel "changed" are art and frames, figurines, and coffee table books.
2. Switch up the textiles
Do you ever feel like when you change your sheets, you're diving into a brand new bed? This can apply all around your house. Replacing or rotating your sheets or bedding is only one way to make a space feel new. I always keep my eye open for different patterened and colored kitchen towels, curtains, throw blankets, and placemats. Changing these elements can completely change the vibe of a room, and it's an easy and (can be) affordable option without too much of a commitment.
3. Rearrange the room
In some spaces this is a tough task, in others it's an easy way to feel like the room is "new". Every once in a while I forget function and need to move things just because. This doesn't usually last long but at least it feels fresh. Some easy manuevers may include switching your couch and tv walls around, or relocating a corner shelf. Try out the plant in a new corner, or rearrange the art on your walls.
4. Clean
This one may sound a bit silly, however it is SO REFRESHING to clean your space. Commit to the bit, pop on your favorite tunes and do a deep clean. Vacuum, sweep or mop, dust all your littles, wipe down that table, finish up by lighting a candle or starting the diffuser and then just enjoy your space.
5. Treat the walls
For the slightly more committed, it may be time to consider some wall treatment. If this is the case, just be sure you're ready for the big(ger) change! You may want to consider starting with some peel and stick wallpaper, or painting an accent wall before fully committing to the task, since this is the option that's not as EASY. There are many online shops ( such as ottostudios or spoonflower) for quality peel and stick wallpaper compatible for so many different aesthetics. If you're ready to paint, just be sure to sample the color and make sure it is someting you really love.
