If you don't dig it, don't do it.
If you love what's on trend interior design wise, then by all means follow the trend. But what if you don't?
I suggest you be brave. Don't be afraid to express your own tastes in your design style. All that matters is that you love your space. Just be your authentic self and let the design flow through you!
Try not to worry what others will think when coming into a space that you have created. You may get comments like, "oh, that's an interesting light fixture". Or, "this is a great color in here" as someone enters a room housing some decorative objects that you are super excited to show off. It might make you want to scream "Would you look at this awesome whatyamacallit!? Isn't it fantastic?!"
Don't be discouraged. Not everyone is going to share your awesome taste and coolness. Remember, you're the person using that space daily and you are the one who gets to feel comfortable in that space. You are the only one that needs to think your cool stuff is cool. What's funny is you'll find after the shock wears off people may actually decide they like what you've done and mimic you. This is how trends begin.
If you style your home in your own taste, it won't matter what the trend is. You will always love it. And if there comes a point that you don't, we can help you fix that. :)
